Permaculture Handbook Book Study Group
March 1, 2015 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Sam has organized a winter Book Study Group focused on The Permaculture Handbook by Peter Bane. We’ll meet bi-weekly and cover several chapters in each meeting. Please read the chapters noted in advance of the meeting.
Background: I (Sam) have talked to a few people about starting a book group during the winter. For me the motivation is to study a permaculture book in a group setting that would:
• generate discussion and ideas that you might not get reading something on your own
• provide concepts that are grounded in local vernacular or applicable to personal circumstances
• create a learning community and continuing education guild
• provide motivation to finish a whole book
With Skype or similar online access this could be both a physical and virtual meet up.
I have a particular interest in working through Peter Bane’s “Permaculture Handbook: Garden Farming for Town and Country” http://permaculturehandbook.com/.
Meeting dates, times, and chapters are as follows:
3/1 Part 1: Attitudes, Chapters 1-6, pages 3-98
3/15 Part 2; Elements, Chapters 7-10, pages 99-180
3/29 Part 2: Elements cont., Chapters 11-13, pages 181-254
4/12 Part 2: Elements cont., Chapters 15-18, pages 255-366
4/26 Part 3: Outcomes, Chapters 19-22, pages 367-430
(From a newer e-mail):
We have been able to get the Lawton community room to hold our meetings. The room is located in downtown Lawton across from the laundromat and is where we have had several past events.
We would be meeting at 4:30PM starting on the March 1, 2015 and meet every other week thereafter. I assume the meetings would last approximately 1.5 hours, with some time afterward to socialize. The Lawton library has free wifi and should be able to accommodate those who want to use Skype to join the conversation. I will send Skype info next week for connecting up.
If you'd like to have your event added to our calendar, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with all of the relevant details, and if possible, a representative photo or decent-quality copy of your logo. Thanks!
