Permachiptz, Potluck and Final PCH Book Study
April 26, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Since we have not had a get-together in a long while and there are a mountain of wood chips waiting to moved at PJ’s nascent forest garden, we are getting together to say “hey” to all those Van-Kal, SW Michigan permaculture minded folks that would like to come out and lend a hand moving the mountain and have a meal together on April 26, 2015 from 10 AM to 3:30-4PM.

The front part of the garden looks like this in April. Park on the roadside or in the driveway of the blue house (435 White Oak).
Permablitz: 10AM-2PM
- Move the pile of wood chips to the different areas designated around the forest garden to distribute biomass on a sandy soil site and give the many, many trees that PJ has planted some TLC
- Learn about PJ’s forest garden plan and design and how it has grown and changed over the last 5 years
- Bring pitchforks, shovels, wheel barrows, yourself and whatever else you think is appropriate for moving and spreading the wood chips. Be sure to label your tools so they can find their way back home with you. Please wear boots or sturdy, closed-toe shoes and gloves (lots of Dewberries everywhere—full of miniature thorns that you do not want in your bare feet or hands).
- Create community by working together, getting to know your neighbors and re-establish old connections
Potluck: 2PM-3:30PM
Come at anytime and stay as long as you want or can. In case of bad weather we will meet in the Lawton Community Room (125 S. Main St., Lawton, MI 49065) for the meal, but obviously dress appropriately for the weather.
Many people have different dietary restrictions and needs so you may want to make clear what is in your dish.
Final book club meeting to discuss Peter Bane’s “The Permaculture Handbook” will follow from 4:30 to 6:30 in the Lawton Community Room (see address above).
If you'd like to have your event added to our calendar, please e-mail [email protected] with all of the relevant details, and if possible, a representative photo or decent-quality copy of your logo. Thanks!
